Punch Drunk Live at the Georgia Theatre

Don Chambers + GOAT // Punch Drunk // Georgia Theatre from Jason Thrasher on Vimeo.

Our friends Jason Thrasher(video) and Sloan Simpson(sound) put together this from our recent show at the newly renovated (and quite impressive!) Georgia Theatre.

Monday, August 8, 2011

Dear Friends, we are really excited to be playing the Georgia Theatre tomorrow. I've been printing t-shirts, making booklets, and learning the ways of bandcamp - the place we will be selling our new recordings. This is all a big learning curve and I am sure to make some goofs, but so far so good and I hope you like the new record. We plan to do a pre-sale for a vinyl version sometime this fall. Meanwhile, we have fresh t-shirts, limited edition posters (made especially for the theatre show), lyric books all available with a download code for "Punch Drunk" . Come out to the fabulous new Theatre (Will and Co. did a great job) and enjoy the rock show. We go on promptly at 9pm.
cheers - don

p.s. you can find the download site at (http://donchambersandgoat.bandcamp.com) starting August 9, 2011!

The Bottomless Suitcase : Case no. 01061311 - Ravens Live in the Lobby

The Bottomless Suitcase is a project to release oddities, rarities, absurdities and assundry recording and videos that I 've been involved with. It's meant as a sort of Cabinet of Curiosities, a Wunderkammer.

In today's first installment: a live recording of "Ravens" from the WUOG 90.5 Live in the Lobby show, October 8, 2009. This features myself on vocals, guitar and special agent John Barner on secret technical shenanigans. Video by Harold Falloompo - my longtime art department collaborator. Hope you like it. - Don

Canival Saloon Blogspot

One of the greatest things about the Internet are the myriad of new sites that replace magazines, radios, TV, etc. You can find someone out there who loves some obscure 'anything' just as much as you. I think it is wonderful and for that reason I want to plug my friend Nigel's blog carnivalsaloon.blogspot.com, which is a music lovers journal that just gets better and better. Nigel was a most gracious host while I was visiting London a few years ago, plus he's a damn fine writer. The latest entry is about the Titanic...

I will happily resort to stereotype and say that the Irish need no excuse for festivities so should we really be surprised that Belfast celebrated the 100th anniversary, of the ill-fated launch ...

Website, Shows, Giants

donchambersmusic.com is under construction so we will be using this site for updates. Thanks to Jenn Bryant for helping us.

We have two shows coming up this summer in Athens, Athfest on the second stage Saturday June 25 at around 7pm. Then August 9 we will be playing the grand opening week of the mighty Georgia Theatre (see picture above). I haven't been back to there since the day we filmed the video, I'm very excited to see what Wilmont has done with the place.

I found this guy by the side of the road in Washington , Ga. He looks so forlorn beside the closed sign, but I think he also means business. cheers - Don

Million Dollar Bash Dylan Birthday Show

John Barner and I played my favorite Dylan songs: Dark Eyes, Ballad of a Thin Man, Visions of Johanna and Blind Willie McTell at the Manhatten Bar Tuesday night to a wonderful crowd - packed to the gills and still hung out for 4 hours listening to Dylan songs by various Athens musicians. Thanks to everybody for a wonderful evening! (photos by Julie Phillips)

The Banana Man

Classic vaudeville style production act from Capn' Kangaroo Show.

Josh T. Pearson

Having played a show in London, myself and my banjo were boarding the plane to fly back to Berlin, where I was living at the time. I hear this Texas drawl behind me ask "if I know how to use that thing?" - meaning my banjo - he was wearing a beard as long as Florida and we struck a friendship then and there. Turned out he was living in Berlin as well and playing in London as well. Well, he's got a record coming out this month on Mute that I cannot wait to hear. Enjoy the video.

Until the World Runs Outta Dirt Video

Don Chambers at the Georgia Theater after the fire. from Jason Thrasher on Vimeo.

We shot this video a month or so after the fire at the Theatre, still smelled like the seventh level of hell in there, but sounded great. Strange combination of sadness at something going away and fascination at the destruction.

The Georgia Theatre Benefit

GOAT is playing the Georgia Theatre benefit tonight at the 40 Watt. We haven't been playing that many shows out and the energy level of the band is like a pent up wild boar - ready to go! We have a new record in the can that we will be playing a good amount of, plus some older material retooled for the attack we are currently making. Earplugs advised.
